This afternoon I got the urge to jot something down and yesterday I tuned my guitar so I ended up putting them together. Below is a link to the final product, although it's a bit of a rough draft. Since I rarely get past the rough draft stages I figured I'd at least put it up in the event that this song lives the same lifecycle as most of them... to die at rough draft stage.
The deal is this is kind of a song about how Mom raised us and how, in some ways I aspire but fail. Anyway, Here's the link to the song (mp3 format, poorly recorded, played, sang, and written, but meh...) and click the "read more" link (below) if you want to see the lyrics, or some facsimilie thereof. ;)
Learn to crawl then to walk start to babble then to talk begin to think then to know learn to reap, then to sow Momma taught me this not with her fist Momma taught me that and THAT's where it's at. don't let them hold you down don't let them hold you down let it out let it out sometimes whisper never shout let it out let it out let it out Roll with the punches duck when you can keep a sharp eye out grow up a man. Now momma she didn't raise no fools common courtesy and golden rules but these are words she never said isn't it kinda funny what we learn? let it out let it out love doesn't depreciate let it out let it out don't forget to appreciate let it out let it out I never got my degree I never did a lot of things But I learned how to see and never harm anything Life is a gambler's paradise plant the seed and watch it grow Save it if you'll need it reap it if you seed it I Learned to crawl then to walk started to babble then to talk began to think then to know learned to reap, now I sow I let it out I let it out sometimes whisper sometimes shout let it out |
