You might be wondering, "In what way does this website differ from the old one?" Because I hear that all the time. (HA!) Well, think of this website like you would think of a magazine or a newspaper. There are writers, there are editors, and there are publishers. Which role do you fill here? Most likely all of them.
Here's how it works: Once you've created an account (it's over there at the left somewhere) and you're logged in you'll see a feature called "Submit News". This allows you to submit a story that you write for publication on the site. Once you submit the story it can be edited by an editor and published by a publisher. If your account serves as the role of publisher you can write your story and publish it right away. Otherwise you wait for another editor and or publisher to get involved. It really isn't as complex as it sounds. Similarly, it is far more fun than it sounds.
What could you write about? Well anything. We all either know each other here or know who everyone is, so be frank. Or be yourself, however you prefer to "roll." But in any case, write about anything. Tell us a story about what happened with your kids, where you are going on vacation, or maybe you see something in one of the news feeds we have that piques your interest. I was just reading one of the news feeds and saw one article that claims to have found what could be the oldest human footprint on record. I'm very interested in this sort of thing so if I weren't writing this howto make your own article thing I'd likely be babbling about that. If you want to see something new as far as the news feeds go, let us know on the forum. If you have something to say about a news feed, let's put it right here on the front page. Maybe it will spill over into the forum, maybe it will just let us get to know each other better. Either way, please help us keep this current by telling us what you're thinking. Something I just thought of. If you want to try it out first, in your story just make the first line THIS IS A TEST And we'll disregard it when looking at the immensely long publication queue. |
